About this part

1731745 is supplied as a remanufactured replacement fuel injection part. Cross-reference numbers: 1731745, 1841726, 2175696, 5WS40694, 5WS40694DJ, A2C59517045. In a common rail system the injector is the component that actually controls combustion. It holds back fuel at rail pressure and lifts for only a few milliseconds at a time, metering the exact quantity and breaking it into a fine spray so the charge ignites cleanly. When delivery drifts, the engine does not usually stop — it simply starts to burn fuel badly. Watch for hard hot starting, uneven idle, visible smoke, a misfire that clears when the engine is revved, and consumption creeping up without any change in operating conditions. Do a return-flow check before buying anything. Comparing leak-off volumes between cylinders takes minutes, and if one injector returns far more than its neighbours, that single test has answered the question. Fitment notes: injectors on the same engine wear together. Replacing only the failed unit often leaves the others close behind, and a single new injector reading differently from its neighbours will cause exactly the rough running you were trying to fix. Replacing as a matched set avoids that. Always fit new copper sealing washers and seals — used washers rarely seal a second time — and where the system requires injector classification or IQA codes, have them programmed to the ECU after fitting. How we build it: the unit is fully disassembled, cleaned and measured, not simply resealed. Wear items — seals, springs, and where clearance is out of specification the plunger and barrel or nozzle assemblies — are replaced rather than reused. Sealing faces and bores are re-machined back to original clearances, then the unit is calibrated and run on a bench with delivery, return flow, opening pressure and leakage recorded. Anything outside specification does not ship. Test sheets for your specific units are available on request. Covered by a 12-month warranty.
