Set the pump against the engine's timing marks rather than forcing anything, prime thoroughly before cranking, and check that the lift pump is delivering adequate supply pressure. Also replace the mounting seal and confirm there is no air left in the system before the first start. How we build it: the unit is fully disassembled, cleaned and measured, not simply resealed. Wear items — seals, springs, and where clearance is out of specification the plunger and barrel or nozzle assemblies — are replaced rather than reused. Sealing faces and bores are re-machined back to original clearances, then the unit is calibrated and run on a bench with delivery, return flow, opening pressure and leakage recorded.
