0445010142 is supplied as a remanufactured replacement fuel injection pump. Cross-reference numbers: 0445010142, 96440341. Application recorded for this part: CP1 Captiva 2.0 CDRi lace. This unit sets both quantity and timing for every cylinder. Modern engines depend on that timing being accurate to well under a degree, so internal wear that would once have been tolerated now shows up as smoke, noise and failed emissions checks. The pattern is normally cumulative: slightly harder starting, then noticeable power loss, then smoke and unstable idle. Where the drive seal has failed, diesel in the lubricating oil is the warning that should stop you running the engine. Diagnose the supply side before blaming the pump. Restricted filters, a tired lift pump or air being drawn into the suction line will produce symptoms almost identical to internal pump wear, and are far cheaper to resolve. Key points: align to the timing marks rather than forcing the drive, prime before cranking, renew seals, confirm adequate supply pressure from the lift pump, and bleed the system fully. Skipping any of these is where most comebacks originate. How we build it: the unit is fully disassembled, cleaned and measured, not simply resealed. Wear items — seals, springs, and where clearance is out of specification the plunger and barrel or nozzle assemblies — are replaced rather than reused. Sealing faces and bores are re-machined back to original clearances, then the unit is calibrated and run on a bench with delivery, return flow, opening pressure and leakage recorded. Anything outside specification does not ship. Test sheets for your specific units are available on request. Covered by a 12-month warranty.
